  • K'MON To Cascade For Basketball Excitement

    Ray Castellanos|Feb 1, 2024

There's nothing like attending a Badger sporting event in person! Friday night saw our #1 ranked Lady Badgers and our #1 ranked Cascade Badgers defend against 10C District rivals Simms Tigers. Just like the "big boys", we too had our local celebrity broadcasters doing the play-by-play on site. And talk about our half-time program; our mini-cheerleader routine rivaled that of any Super Bowl halftime show, not to mention all the excitement an noise generated by our cheering squad at every game....

  • Achievements

    Edward Martin|Feb 1, 2024

There’s an old saying, which, when I first heard it, I mentally objected and pushed the thought aside. The saying is, “Let go, or be dragged.” The Buddhist idea that it is our attachments which causes our suffering makes it a likely origin. I couldn’t accept it because, like everyone, I am a child of my culture. Our culture teaches us from birth that we are valued according to our achievements. We are molded by culture to believe we must continually do more, be more, or we’re not achieving...

  • The Best Emergency Service in the Universe Part 2

    Dave Carroll|Feb 1, 2024

I want to share with you some more great numbers to call when life throws you a curve. As I mentioned last time, to go out unprepared in severe winter weather, or life, is to invite disaster. The journey we call life and death requires a person to have things in order, if it is to be satisfying and successful. The Bible has some emergency numbers that are the best resource to turn to when you encounter difficulties on your journey. Here are several more to add to your phone book of life. Over the years I have worked with, ministered to and befr...

  • Lady Badgers Weekend Games

Coach Jeff Mortag, Photos by Ray Castellanos|Feb 1, 2024

The Lady Badgers had a busy weekend playing three games. As usual, all the girls showed great hustle and toughness. While they are always the smaller team, they fight for every rebound and play tough man-to-man defense. In the first game, the Badgers traveled to Shelby to play the Class B Coyotes who are in third place in their district. The Badgers started fast and led most of the first half, leading 26-21 at halftime. The rest of the game was a back-and-forth game. With Badgers leading by 2...

  • A Different Perception

Nancy Royan, Librarian, Wedsworth Memorial Library|Feb 1, 2024

Food plays an integral, but routine part in our day-to-day lives and we don’t think much about it except what to eat at our next meal or- how about that snack. However, in the past, food was once thought of as noble and in a different aspect of what we might think of today. Onions. We rarely consider them as anything more than culinary devices, items to be sliced, diced, and tossed into a hot pan to serve as an aromatic backbone of a savory dish. Today, you would probably think of sending or bringing flowers to a funeral. Things were done a m...
