This morning I boarded a flight, put in my earbuds and started listening to my “travel playlist.” The flight was bumpy, the clouds were thick and the view was terrible.

But about halfway through the flight we got to that magical point — the one where the plane lifts so that clouds are below you and the blue sky is above you, and they meet in a perfect line on the distant horizon.
