Last Sunday, March 17, the First Baptist Church of Cascade ordained two official elders, being Bob Griffis and Ray Castellanos. The ceremony followed the sermon on Sunday morning and was headed by Pastor Steve Boettger. The topic was under discussion in the prior weeks, seeing as there had not been any officially ordained elders in the church in several years. Bob and Ray were selected for the positions due to their commitment to following the teachings of the Bible and of Jesus Christ. The ceremony was performed in the presence of and in participation with the congregation, who were in unanimous agreement with the ordainment of the two men. In the following weeks, there will be an official decision and subsequent ceremony to ordain the deacons of the Baptist Church as well.
