Badger Basketball Weekend Wrap-Up

The Badger High School boys were back on the court this last weekend. Friday the team headed to Big Sandy to take on the Pioneers.

The JV started the night strong for the boys and used their full court press to take the game over early. The game ended with all players getting extended minutes enroute to a 72-34 victory. Lane Ethridge led the scoring with 23 points and added 5 assists. Trent Lane had another great night scoring 18 and grabbing 13 rebounds. Peyton Hauk continued to show off his all-around game scoring 6, grabbing 6 rebounds and adding 5 steals. Conner Mann had his highest scoring night of the season with 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.

The young Badgers enjoyed a large rebounding advantage. Drake Lange and Deyton Raether each added 5 boards to the team total. Tanner Jacobs had 4 and Martin Bodnar grabbed 2, while making their season debut.

The Varsity Badgers ensured that the first road trip of the season ended successfully as they earned a 75-52 victory of their own. Kaden Jorgenson had a great game scoring 18, grabbing 7 rebounds and dishing out 8 assists. Caiden Sekuterski had 14 points and 5 assists, Tyler Lane 12 points and 10 rebounds, Gavin Gilham scored 15 and added 7 rebounds and 4 assists, and Brent Ethridge had 12 points and 8 rebounds. Those starters played well and ensured plenty of playing time for the Badger bench as both Seth Mckamey (2 pts, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block) and Ian Mckamey (2 rebounds, 1assist) continued to contribute. Peyton Hauk, Lane Ethridge and Josh Creveling received their first Varsity playing time of the season.

The Badgers were back on the road Saturday morning and headed for Sunburst to face the Refiners. Both teams won in dominating fashion with the JV earning a 62-14 victory and the Varsity prevailing by a score of 73-9.

Lane Ethridge led the JV scoring by making 4 three-point shots enroute to 22 points and 5 assists. Trent Lane scored 10 and added 9 rebounds and 6 steals. Peyton Hauk had 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Josh Creveling scored 4 along with 5 assists and 2 steals and Conner Mann chipped in 10 points of his own. The JV bench dominated while on the court, forcing turnovers and pushing the Refiners deep into the shot clock. Drake Lange scored his first points of the season and finished with 6. Martin Bodnar scored his first 2 of the year and had 3 rebounds as well. Tanner Jacobs scored 5 and added 4 assists. Deyton Raether continued his strong season by chipping in 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Tyler Lane

The Varsity starters saw limited playing time in the blowout but Tyler Lane still managed 14 points and 12 rebounds. Kaden Jorgenson had 9 points and 5 assists. Gavin Gilham finished with 11 while Brent Ethridge and Caiden Sekuterski each chipped in with 8 apiece.

For the 2nd consecutive night, the Badger starting 5 ensured that the 2nd unit would get plenty of minutes. Seth Mckamey pulled down 7 rebounds and added 3 points. Ian Mckamey played his best game of the season finishing with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals. Peyton Hauk played hard and grabbed 7 rebounds while dishing out 3 assists. Lane Ethridge scored 7 and Josh Creveling added 4.

The end of the weekend saw the JV boys sitting with an overall record of 3-1 while the Varsity boys remain unbeaten at 3-0 (1-0 conference). The Badgers will be on the floor again Tuesday, December 19th at home vs Shelby and will play again Thursday, December 21st at Simms.
