L-R - Audrey Rumney, Nova Smith, Carson Freed, Jacob Golie, Tyler Lane and Deyton Raether

The 2024 edition of the Cascade Badger High School Golf Team boasts 8 golfers and is coached by Jason Raether, Kourtney Holten and Mike Moore. Audrey Rumney and Nova Smith both return from last year and represent the female team, while Carson Freed, Deyton Raether and Jacob Golie return from last year's male team and add newcomers Tyler Lane, Kaidyn Halvorson and Bobby Rumney.

The Badgers competed in their first two tournaments this last week, attending the Valier/Sunburst Invitational at the Marias Valley Country Club and the Belt/Centerville Meet held at Anaconda Hills in Great Falls. The Badgers took advantage of the great weather with nearly every golfer setting personal best rounds.

At the Valier/Sunburst Invitational, Nova Smith set her personal best round and shot a 113, putting her at 10th in the female side. Carson Freed also shot his personal best and posted a 122 and finished 34th to lead the boys. Bobby Rumney, an 8th Grader, golfed in his first high school tournament and posted a 134, putting him in 38th place, while Kaidyn Halvorson's first outing with the high school team, saw him post a 143, placing him in 40th place.

The Belt/Centerville meet saw the Badgers take on a tough course where last year's State Tournament was held and this year's Divisional Tournament will be held. Nova Smith nearly qualified for the State Tournament on this day, where she again paced the girls team, besting the previous day, shooting a 102 putting her in 4th place and just missing State Qualification by 2 shots. Audrey Rumney set her personal best mark on this day, posting a 115, good enough for 10th place. The boys were led by Carson Freed who again shot a personal best 115, placing him in 34th place. Deyton Raether shot a 118 placing 38th, while Tyler Lane and Jacob Golie attended their first varsity matches shooting 129 and 150, respectively.

The Badgers are back in action this week, where they will attend the Conrad JV match on Friday and the Conrad Varsity match on Saturday.
