Cascade Badger Seniors Honored

Badgers vs Sheridan Panthers

The Badgers welcomed the Sheridan Panthers to Cascade last Friday night for one last Gridiron clash. It was Senior night and players were amped up for the last game of the season and for some, maybe their last football game. The Badgers won the toss and elected to receive. On the first play from scrimmage the Badger offense shot out like a cannon sending would be tacklers scattering as Ian McKamey sprinted around the left end for a 52 yard touchdown run following an authoritative block from senior Caiden Sekuterski. The Badger defense offered very little to the Panthers and they were forced into a quick punt. On the second offensive play the Badgers broke outside again with Peyton Hauk following Sekuterski around the other side for a 45 yard touchdown dash. Sekuterski picking up three key blocks in two plays escorted Hauk to the end zone with hands wide. The defense would continue to stuff the run and force the panthers into passing situations. The Badger secondary was stingy, giving up only small gains and forcing multiple first quarter punts. Up the middle with McKamey and Sekuterski for chunk play after chunk play, and then to the outside for big gains proved to be a winning combination as the Badgers scored on two more McKamey rushing touchdowns of 26 and 37 yards. After senior Brent Ethridge hauled in a McKamey pass for a 2-point conversion, the Badgers were up 26-0 with time left in the first. On the next defensive stand, Sekuterski blitzed of the right edge like a dart, sacking the Panther QB and sending the ball flying towards pay dirt. Senior, Colby Crowell, blitzing from the other side saw the collision and sprinted for the ball. In true gamer fashion, Crowell scooped the ball as his momentum carried him forward, and he leapt into the end zone for a Defensive Touchdown. Sekuterski added 2 points, bringing the score to 34-0 Badgers. Defense held again and the hungry offense took back to the field. After a strong run up the middle, McKamey hit Sekuterski for a long passing strike. Sekuterski caught the pass from McKamey for what looked to be a modest gain. With the speed of a sprinter, Sekuterski hit the jets outrunning tacklers that were certain to have the angle; Sekuterski ran 46 yards for another Badger score. The total at the end of the first period was 40-0 Badgers.

On the next Panther possession, the Badgers Peyton Hauk, recovered another fumble giving the offense the pigskin. Ian McKamey ran in another long 31 yard scamper. After another two point conversion by Sekuterski and a late 4th quarter 10 yard dash by Nick Deshayes, the Badger season had come to end. With emotions high, the Badger Seniors had put on their armor for one final show, besting the Panthers 54-8.
