Cascade, MT (10/1/2023) – Friends of the Black & Gold is proud to award the Cascade Badger Cubs Volleyball program a $1,911 Micro-Grant. Funds for this grant were raised at the past Black & Gold Ball and Auction.

"Badger Cubs Volleyball is a program designed to teach the youth of Cascade and surrounding areas the skills needed to succeed in volleyball as they move into the Junior High and High School Volleyball programs. Fundamentals and keys that are used at these levels will be taught in hopes to give these kids a jump start in their future volleyball athletics." says Sage Butcher, a founder of the new program in Cascade. "Funds from this grant will be used to set up two net systems so that we can have two courts in place for practices at Wedsworth Hall. This will give the kids the opportunity to have more of a controlled environment when working on skills as well as allow us to work with different skill levels more efficiently."

The Badger Cubs Volleyball Program has secured a mobile pole system that is no longer in use from the Cascade School. Grant funds were used to purchase a net for the school's pole/standard as well as a second pole/standard and net. Cascade's High School Volleyball program has approved the purchase of 15 Tachikara Volley-Lite Volleyballs for the younger aged kids to use. Grant funds were also used to purchase 15 Tachikara Volleyballs for the older and more advanced kids. The goal is for every child to have a ball to practice with. A volleyball cart for practices and to use for storing the balls was also purchased.

"Funds from this grant and any other donations will allow Badger Cubs Volleyball to successfully accomplish our mission now and into the future."
