Are You Ready For Some Football?

Bridger Lewis had a good game

It was football opening week and loyal Cascade fans were ready to back up their Badgers, come what may! I was able to catch the JV game against the Simms Tigers Monday afternoon, having been out of town over the weekend. One thing that impresses me about Badger fans is that, not only do they show up to support their team, they also oftentimes volunteer to help out where needed. You saw Iain and Farrah McGregor running the chains in the sidelines, the hot sun in their faces. (I personally stationed myself in the shadow of the stadium lights pole!) And was that the new AD, Tim Lange, officiating the game? This is Badger country, and I know that anyone in the stands would gladly have volunteered had they been asked.

I remember when I was in high school, way back in the 60's (yeah, I went to high school in the 60's) that we were given textbook covers for our school books. One of the covers read, "It's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game." I understand that it was not a good opening week for the Badgers, but Cascade still played with heart, showing its mettle. Today's JV game was close. Even though we lost, it ended with a Cascade touchdown, the Badgers still fighting to the end! Remember, this is only week one; there's still a lot more football to come! And our junior high team did beat Simms 26-6. GO BADGERS!!!
