Gov. Gianforte, Keynote Speaker at Lincoln/Reagan Dinner in Great Falls

February 22, 2024

Governor Greg Gianforte

"It's time to send Donald Trump back to DC."

This message was first spoken by Gov. Greg Gianforte, then repeated often Saturday at the annual Cascade County Lincoln/Reagan Dinner at the Heritage Inn.

Gianforte is serving his first term as Montana governor, and is seeking re-election to that office. The general election will be in nine months, on Nov. 5, 2024.

He highlighted several of his administration's accomplishments during his first three years in office:

• Banned TikTok in Montana, because of its ties to China.

• Banned foreign adversaries from buying farmland in Montana.

• Expanded parental choice by allowing charter schools.

• Requiring students to take civics and personal finance to graduate from high school. They have to be able to balance a checkbook, he said.

• Increased the pay scale for first-year teachers.

• Provided record funding for K-12 education.

• Prohibited biological males from competing in female sports. "Enough is enough," he said. "Not in Montana and not on our watch."

• Provided tax refunds to each Montana family.

• Created a balanced budget. "Montana is now completely debt-free," he said.

• Signed a number of pro-life bills to protect the most vulnerable unborn babies.

• Montana is now a constitutional-carry state, meaning no permit is required to carry a hand gun.

"Stay involved. Stay active," Gianforte said. "We can't rest, there's too much at stake. We've got to advance shared conservative values.

"God bless you and God bless Montana," he said in closing.

Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter served as Master of Ceremonies. He introduced candidates running for office in the Republican primary, set for Tuesday, June 4. They included:

• Tim Sheehy, U.S. Senate candidate.

• Congressional candidates: Troy Downing, Elsie Arntzen, Ken Bogner, Stacy Zinn, Ed Walker, Ric Holden and Joel Krautter.

• Christi Jacobsen, MT Secretary of State.

• Austin Knudsen, MT Attorney General.

• Bowen Greenwood, Clerk of MT Supreme Court.

• Tanner Smith, candidate for MT Governor.

• Cory Swanson, candidate for Chief Justice MT Supreme Court.
