It's A Little Chilly Out!

January 18, 2024

The season's first winter storm this week brought the coldest weather since late 2022. This blast of bitter cold arctic air surged across the northern Rockies and northern Plains, driving all the way south into Texas and other Southern states.

While it may have paralyzed most of the country, it was mostly business as usual in our neck of the woods. Our area had minimal snowfall and our usual high winds, but, except for the cancellation of some athletic events, it was hunker down or bundle up.

There were some weather-related problems in our schools. Cascade Schools had some problems with the city water, and students and staff were supplied with bottled water while the problem was being resolved. Water fountains throughout the building were closed off. Belt schools had some mechanical issues with their heating system, but still had some heat and students were merely advised to dress appropriately. (Shorts and t-shirts are actually normal attire for most kids in winter!)

Luckily there were a lot of Wild Card football games to keep us entertained, that we hardly noticed the weather. GO COWBOYS! (Maybe next year.)

Yep, gotta love Montana.
