I Have Decided to Follow Jesus

August 3, 2023

It was just a matter of time. In John 6:44, Jesus says, "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him." The natural man has no ability to come to God, nor does he even have the desire to come. Romans 3:11 says, "There is none who understands, there is none who seeks for God." Therefore, God has to draw us, otherwise we would never come. It is only by God's gracious and merciful drawing that we are saved, that our minds are enlightened, and our wills are inclined toward Himself, influencing our soul. Finally, we begin to have new desires. He gives us a new heart that desires to know Him, obey Him, and walk in His promised "newness of life." We become new creations in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17).

Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, "He has made everything beautiful in its time." This past Sunday, it was Max's time. You read about him a couple of weeks ago (A Man and His Dog). God had been speaking to his heart, drawing Max unto Himself. And this Sunday, he responded! At the conclusion of Sunday's service, the congregation met at the river, where Max confessed Jesus as Lord before the saints lining the river and was baptized, with that "great cloud of witnesses" looking down!

Hey, Max! Welcome to the family!
