Little Sure Shot

In last week's edition of the Cascade Courier, Wedsworth Memorial Librarian, Nancy Royan, featured the story of Annie Oakley, champion shooter and star of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Dubbed "Little Sure Shot" by her friend, Chief Sitting Bull, he was so impressed by her shooting, her modest appearance, and her self-assured manner.

Well this past Wednesday, "Little Sure Shot" walked right into the library's meeting room here in Cascade and told her story, herself! Cheryl Heser of Rosebud County, Senator Steve Daines' Montanan of the Month Honoree in September, 2022, for her passion for education and her dedication to preserving American history as a living history presenter, wowed her audience as she walked into that meeting room, in character and in period dress, looking strikingly like Annie. So convincing was she in her portrayal, that everyone there could believe she was indeed Annie Oakley. Remaining in character throughout her presentation, in the question and answer segment at the end, the audience's questions were directed to her Annie character, rather than to Ms. Heser.

Thoroughly enjoyable! What a way to learn history!
