Spelling Bee Finalists, L-R: Trent Lane, 1st place, Molly Jones, 3rd place, and Colten Maulding, 2nd place.

"W-R-E-S-T-L-E" was the winning word in the Cascade School Spelling Bee that was held Tuesday, February 7th. Eighth grader Trent Lane spelled this final word in Round 14, out spelling 18 other contestants. Colten Maulding, also in eighth grade, came in second place and seventh grader Molly Jones came in third. Many students did their homework and came prepared to do their very best. They used various strategies to help them remember and spell the words correctly. Taking time to ask for definitions or sentences also proved helpful. Trent and Colten will now compete in the Cascade County Spelling Bee online. Trent also receives a one year subscription to Britannica Online for Kids. Winners from the county bee will move on to the Montana Treasure State Spelling Bee in Bozeman on Saturday, March 11th.

Teacher/Librarian, Karen Matteson, served as Moderator for the Bee, which saw 19 student participants in grades 4th through 8th.
